Maura Hawkins and Keller Thomas

2023-2027 Scholarship Recipients

There was a tie in the scholarship evaluation this

year and the award was split between two very worthy

recipients, Keller Thomas and Maura Hawkins. Keller will be

attending Auburn and Maura will be attending USA in the

Fall. Congratulations Keller and Maura!

Sean Owen Kirby
2022-2026 Scholarship Recipient

Sean has consistently demonstrated a keen intellect and competitive academic excellence. While participating in eleven extracurricular activities and four volunteer programs, Sean graduated with a 4.4 GPA (out of 4.0), completed a full year of Advanced Placement classes, and was a National Merit Scholar finalist. Sean Owen Kirby is one of our nation’s finest young men and has been accepted to Georgia Tech’s Environmental Engineering program. Way to go Sean!

Andrew Meza
2021-2025 Scholarship Recipient

While playing varsity soccer, varsity band, and completing a challenging Capstone STEAM project, Andrew also found time to perform community service, including projects on our own Little Lagoon. And all the while, he maintained grades that earned him a place in the National Honor Society. Andrew is a favorite amongst peers and educators, and today he attends Auburn University, majoring in Marine Biology with an emphasis on Fisheries. Congratulations Andrew!

Braswell McMeans
2020-2024 Scholarship Recipient

Braswell’s high school achievements are extensive and include starting and running his own business, participating in the track and bowling teams, and earning a place in both the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. Braswell has earned many awards for his leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and community contributions. The first recipient of the Scholars in Science scholarship, today Braswell attends the University of Alabama, majoring in Management Information Systems, where, it is no surprise, he is on the Dean’s list. We could not be prouder of Braswell
